The Food Safety and Standards Digest (FSSD) is a bi-annual scientific-cum-technical magazine published by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The magazine will serve as a mechanism to communicate science-based information, providing scientific advice, disseminating collated data and risk analysis and promoting awareness among all stakeholders, from the scientific community to the general public.

To date, FSSAI has fulfilled this mandate through various channels, including regulations, advisories, and compendiums. Focusing on public understanding alongside scientific discourse, the FSSD is a strategic asset to consolidate these efforts.

It aims to evolve FSSAI’s effective communication from a series of disparate outputs into a unified and authoritative “record of science.” The FSSD is a platform for the scientific dialogue that informs stakeholders about including discussion papers, scientific opinions from FSSAI’s own panels, and peer-reviewed research from the broader food safety community.

The Digest aims to tangibly demonstrate the Authority’s committment to its science-based mandate along with technological updates.
